Michael Medcalf
Michael Medcalf is an Associate Professor of Dance and the Head of Dance at the University of Memphis. With an extensive performing background, Medcalf has showcased his talents as a dancer and guest artist with prestigious dance companies, including Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, Core Dancers, Ballethnic Dance Company, Groundworks Dance Company, Verb Ballets, Dancing Wheels, Kim Robards Dance, Grown Women Dance Collective, Alfred Gallman’s Newark Dance Theatre, and more. Notably, he has directed his own projects, including the Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre and Michael Medcalf/Inventions.
As a highly regarded choreographer, Medcalf has earned commissions to create works spanning opera, musical theatre, film, concert dance, and the commercial industry.
