Mara Dawn Farris
Mara Farris, a native of Kentucky, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a minor in Performing Arts Administration. While at Western, Mara performed extensively with the WKU Dance Company through out her undergraduate career and has performed at Jazz Dance World Congress in Chicago, Illinois and internationally in Istanbul, Turkey and Civitavecchia and Tolfa, Italy. Upon graduation she was accepted into the Master of Fine Arts Program at Oklahoma City University. While in Oklahoma, she taught at the Community Dance Center, as well as, taught and judged for Dance Masters of Oklahoma. After Mara’s first semester at OCU she auditioned and became a member of Movement Continuum, Lexington, Kentucky’s professional contemporary dance company. Mara’s choreography embodies a range of dance styles and genres and has appeared in and around the state of Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee. Mara is an avid volunteer for The Lexington Theatre Company and judge for the Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program. Mara currently resides in Lexington, KY where she is a teacher, choreographer, director of student teachers and assistant dance company manager at Town & Village School of Dance and is a part-time dance instructor at the University of Kentucky.
