Erick Ordonez
Erick Ordonez is the founder of Huntsville' Rocket City Latin Festival. He has made significant contributions to the culture of the community in North Alabama and has been recognized by the former mayor of Huntsville and the former governor for doing do. Erick began his dance aspirations as a freshman in college learning how to merengue and salsa in New Mexico. Once working as an engineer, he improved his abilities and began to study salsa and bachata as an enthusiastic student of the latin dance world. His motivation was to prove that heavy people can dance too. After many years of lessons in Texas, his day job (NASA Engineer) brought him to Huntsville for work. In 2011, the University of Alabama in Huntsville asked him to assist in teaching the Universities Salsa Club. In four years, Erick built an amazing program and took many performance teams across the country to perform on some of the biggest stages in the US and World. He put Alabama on the map for its Salsa and Bachata dancing. Erick is now currently the promoter for one of the largest events in the Southeast United States, The Atlanta Salsa and Bachata Festival. He continues to push for dance equality and dance improvement.
